Expedition Notes | A true collaboration of Caramel, Nuts and Stonefruit. |
A very clean bean which makes 1 of 2 new coffee drops from the state of Aragua. Ronald Pantin, named as always after the farms owner of producer, captures the essence of its origins rich terroir; soil known both internationally and locally for its richness. The cup opens with a smooth sweetness of caramel, balanced perfectly by the warm, toasty undertones of roasted nuts. As it cools, vibrant notes of stone fruit—think ripe peach or apricot—emerge, adding a refreshing layer of complexity... if youre into that sort of thing! Otherwise... unbelievably freshening brew.
Origin: Venezuela, Hacienda La Palma - Mariño, Aragua State.
Hacienda la Palma is nestled in the rich, green highlands, north-east of Maracay and south of the Southern Caribbean Sea. Both this farm, and that of our other Aragua coffees are part of the larger 'mother' project of Casa de Paya, a larger finca overseen by Léopoldo Yanez in a unique manner. In years past Casa Paya underwent a period of 'invasion' to use their own words - yet it was Léopoldo and his family who decided to integrate and accommodate the newcomers into a new business model that would go on to not just benefit the community, but also provide a solid blueprint for other growing regions across Venezuela who have experienced similar fates. Since the shift, the growing cooperative have undergone and continue to pursue training and development in regards to harvesting and processing methods to meet specialty standards.
